Common questions about ordering voiceover from a real family of voice actors.
Pricing
How is a familyVO quote priced?
Every quote starts from the same industry-standard rate book published by the GVAA Rate Guide — the non-union reference used across professional voiceover. We then apply a transparent familyVO discount on top of the GVAA midpoint: 25–35% off on solo bookings and 10–20% off on family-cast bookings (multiple actors in one project). Our calculator itemizes every line so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
Why is familyVO cheaper than booking each actor separately?
Because we are an actual blood-related family that records in one studio on one mic chain. When you book multiple voices from us you pay one session fee and one project license — not eight. There's no casting director, no agency markup, and no per-actor session fees. That's the family-cost-structure savings baked into every quote.
What does a quote include?
The base session/project fee, your usage tier (Broadcast / Digitally Paid / Non-Broadcast), the license length, and any add-ons you select (sync to picture, leveled mastering, file naming, etc.). Retakes within the original direction are always free and returned in 1 business day.
What are the Broadcast / Digital / Non-Broadcast tiers?
Broadcast covers TV/radio commercials and other paid-broadcast use. Digitally Paid covers ads on YouTube, Hulu, social platforms, streaming, and other digitally-paid placements. Non-Broadcast covers training, e-learning, internal corporate videos, audiobooks and similar non-paid-airtime use. Each tier has a different GVAA rate — the calculator applies the right one automatically.
What if I need a perpetual license?
Several project types include perpetuity by default (audiobooks, video games, animation). For other project types you can switch to perpetuity at a documented multiplier — visible right inside the calculator before you click Calculate.
Are there hidden fees?
No. Every line in the quote is itemized. Stripe processes payment securely and we never see or store your card. Your quote is valid for 30 days and we honor the original price even if our rates change inside that window.
Do you offer series / recurring discounts?
Yes — tick the “part of a series or recurring campaign” box in the calculator and we'll review for bundle pricing. Multi-episode projects, weekly/monthly campaigns, and ongoing brand work often qualify for additional savings.
What about rush jobs?
Rush is +25% and brings most projects under 10,000 words down to 1 business day turnaround, subject to actor availability. (We're almost always available!)
Do quotes include retakes?
Yes — direction-based pickups are always free and returned within 1 business day. If you change the script after recording, that's a new line item, but the per-line cost is unchanged.
How much will my project cost?
Our calculator gives you an itemized quote in under a minute. Try it here. Quotes are valid for 30 days.
Can I get a free audition first?
Yes — up to 30 seconds of your script for free, watermarked. Request a Free Custom Audition and we'll record the voices you'd like to hear.
Do you use AI voices?
No. familyVO is real humans only. We do not synthesize, clone, or AI-generate any voice. A signed Digital Alteration License is required for any AI use of our voices.
How fast can you turn it around?
Standard delivery is 3–6 business days for projects under 10,000 words. Rush is usually 1 business day, subject to actor availability. (We're almost always available!)
Can I hire more than one actor?
Absolutely. In fact, that's the point of this website. You can hire multiple actors to fill all the slots in your script! Contact us for a Free Custom Audition!
Do you do animal vocalizations?
Yep! Give us some direction for your furry animal or fantastical creature and we'll develop a vocal personality that can emote without words throughout your story. Take a listen here!
You do animation, too?!
Yes! CrossTimber offers 2D + 3D-enhancements and special effects. This can include editing, SFX, licensed background music, and of course a full-cast of voice talent! We love working with existing art, or collaborating with you to develop original characters.
